My journey. 1985 Skeeter FS-80, 19?? Terry 15' bass boat, 1984 18' Procraft w/150...thought I made it, 1979 Skeeter HP Wrangler put 150 from Procraft on it, burnt it up then put a Rude 140 ran great, New 2014 Ranger RT188 aluminum w/115 Etec, paid it off sold it after 6 years and bought New 2019 Tracker PT195 in 2020 w/ my first Merc 150, paid it off sold it to pay for new HVAC system for the house and used the rest of the money for my current 1995 Viper 201D w/200 Johnson. Old boat in good shape but have to say it's my favorite. Miss the turnkey start of the previous 2 so maybe upgrade of the outboard in the future to at least a DI Opti since my beloved OMC let me down. Of the bunch the best with the TM down was the Ranger believe it or not, shallow draft that sits flat in the water. The Tracker was nose high, so it was a lot harder to control in wind. The FS-80 turned on a dime, Terry was a tri-hull beat you to death, Procraft was just alright, Wrangler HP ran like a scalded dog but no storage. Both new boats were great. The Viper has enough storage, rides great and is just fast enough with the old smoker back there.

I've tried quite a few different rods and nothing feels quite like the b lat spin rod. I love that rod so much. It ALWAYS comes with me when I go fishing. That being said, nothings forever and i'm glad things didn't end on bad terms. Excited to see the next step in your journey. We'll support you for whatever you decide my man.

You should've turned around there in your chair got on that computer and showed everyone what you can get on marketplace, exactly what you were talking about. Marketplace is PACKED with bassboats. I know cause I'm shopping for my second boat right now.

Interesting getting different view points and conditions from Kayakers from different parts of the country. I fish the CA, Delta almost exclusively and my Danger are Bass Boaters not caring a wit about what's around them and buzzing by.

Funny, I've bought 5 Favorite Fishing rods since Christmas. I broke a Favorite Firestick spinning rod yesterday. Snapped clean right at the 3rd eye from the tip. I was just working a friggin texas rigged craw with a 1/8 tungsten weight. Just working the bait by picking it up and reeling. I looked and my rod tip just bent over at a 90deg angle. I was like WTH?!?!? Didn't splinter just snapped. I mean it wasn't a high dollar rod. But damn, it never made it a year with very little time actually fishing. I think it was it's 3rd time out of the rod locker. I'm starting to regret the purchase of the other 4 now. Not impressed at all.

I just got off of an Open as a co-angler and the only problem I had was almost every time I was starting to catch fish and the Pro wasn't catching fish, he wanted to leave and go to the other location!!! I get that the Pro has more money on the line, but I had money on the line too!!!

Sounds like it not even worth being a Co in the upper level tournaments, back boating with ffs n such. I been back boated without ffs as well. Team tournaments are way more dmfun anyway. Need more of that !

I've struggled with jumping in as a non boater. Too many bad stories and FFS hasn't made it better. Not belly aching, just being pragmatic. The boater is dropping some green backs and isn't my guide for the day. They owe me nothing, I get it. Spending the day as a marshal as an observer at a higher level competition would be a better investment of my time. My focus has shifted to kayak derby's. Less pressured water, fewer boats, less annualized cost etc... Still have dudes dropping twice what the rig cost on electronics. Appreciate the straight talk in your video sir. All the best.

Yes and no. Stealth advantage but not having spot lock and distance you can cover are the 2 setbacks.

Bro, I am so glad you made this video. You are 1000% correct! Crappie is not the best tasting fish at all. It cooks up mushy just like you said and the meat has no flavor. Bluegill is by far the best tasting pan fish, followed by redear and I don’t really care for largemouth or smallmouth bass. I have eaten wiper before and I don’t like him either. To me, the best tasting freshwater fish is definitely walleye and sauger! Here’s a little tip though, if you freeze the crappie filets after cleaning the fish in a zip lock bag with water once you unthaw and cook, they cook up much more firm, I mean much more! So try freezing your crappie filets before cooking them fresh after cleaning them and I assure you they will cook up more firm.

Brian, might be silly question , but do you think there should be kayak fishing specific rods or do they exist already?

The reason I stopped fishing some club tournaments was me and my brother used to win one of em pretty regularly, and one day we went back to the ramp early and just started screwing around fishing beside the launch. They started coming back in and we went back to the ramp and while we were waiting in line to get loaded up on the trailer, the guys running the tournament DQ us, after seeing the fish we were going to weigh in, saying we were late getting to the launch site. The furthest we got from the ramp was about 150yards. And we had enough to win the tournament and big fish that day. After that I decided if I fish tournaments it’s gonna have to be real tournaments or I’m gonna end up going to jail for beating somebodies brakes off over something stupid. I do thank those guys tho. They bought about half of my rods and tackle and bought us a new lowrance graph already before that day. So I’m sure they still salty about that. 😂

That 7:00 moment. Fish the back of the boat. 😂😂The guy on the front isn’t picking apart every spot, idc what they do. You need to be focused on where they cast and what they hit, hit places close by but not exactly where they’ve already fished. Pick it apart. That’s your job. But stay in the back of the boat. You don’t need to be casting ahead of the boat unless that trolling motor on 10 and we burning a whole bank line

Kayaks are great! I don't have one yet. I have a bass boat. I love seeing people out enjoying the outdoors!!!! I try to be more considerate with kayaks do to their size.

This should be mandatory for every co angler to watch I started as a co angler. Now fish as a boater. Ive had several great co anglers and this one guy…… The day ended with the tournament director asking me to write a statement so he could present it to the president of the organization so he could ban this co angler
